Torment Sneaks In

Your Torment is One Split Second Away

Where does torment originate?

How is it sent your way?

Is it Jesus’ idea to torment you?

All the energy that manifests itself on the earth is positive or negative:

-The Bible says there is truth and deception (lies).

-The Bible says there is a war going on between good and evil.

-It says there is the light or the darkness.

-There is the Creator and the “counterfeiter”.

There is only one who has the power to create—the God of the universe.

-The ability to paint a picture is a gift from the God of Heaven.

-Running faster than others is a gift as well.

-Some are gifted in math, others in music.

People were created with certain gifts, and with various levels of such gifts by the Creator.  Some people rightly know and give God the credit, while others give themselves the credit for their success.

Nobody has ever had a creative idea or thought that was not from Heaven above.  Every good (positive) thought then is a manifestation of Heaven coming down to earth to and through us.

Conversely, every negative, dark or evil thought comes from our enemy, a demon or a demonic force.  This is how Satan and his wicked spirits oppose the truth and bring torment to us.

So, every word—good or bad, and every thought—positive or negative, originates from heaven or hell.  A born again Christian must learn to discern the source before they act.  Most often it is easier to tell

where words are coming from.  They may be bitter, angry or condemning and certainly not from Heaven.  They often set us up to be defensive or easily offended.  A good response is to gently but firmly tell the person bringing such words, “I’m sorry but I don’t receive those words”—and leave it at that.  It’s best not to get drawn into the conversation any further.  If the other party doesn’t honor your response, excuse yourself from the situation.  If on the other hand you continue, you are giving Satan opportunity to deceive you.

Thoughts, on the other hand, can be a bit more difficult to discern.  Most of the time we would know—if we would only check them right away.  The worst thing you can do is embrace or engage an evil or negative thought, which is like having a conversation with a demon or wicked spirit.  The best thing for a Christian to do is to cast it down in the name of Jesus, and demand it to leave.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

On rare occasion you may find it difficult to discern whether or not a thought is from Heaven or Hell.  A pastor friend of mine said when that occurs, don’t act on it but ask the Lord to clarify it for you.  At least at that point you know you are engaging the Father for sure.

Can you see how important it is to take every thought captive right away?  Which brings me to the title of this article, “Your Torment is One Split Second Away.”  If you do not stop a negative or bad thought right at its inception you may be allowing the enemy an open door (to be planting a seed).  You may begin to have a conversation with “the deceiver” and the seed will begin to grow.

Don’t you suppose that murder and rape first began in a thought from hell and grew into a heinous crime.  Isn’t it likely that a misperception caused a thought to grow into a divorce?  I wonder how many hearts are hardened by wrongful thoughts?

I would like to address “unforgiveness” for a time.  Not forgiving somebody for what they may have done to you is a cause of many crimes, sickness and disease.

We are all aware of how difficult it is to forgive people who have hurt us.  On the other hand, it becomes far easier if we know God’s Word on this issue.

            Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This verse is telling us that if we have not forgiven somebody, we have placed our focus on the wrong target.  People who have spoken against you or hurt you in some way have been deceived by a demonic force that perpetrated that onto you.

So to simplify this idea, people are not your problem—Satan is!  Satan and his demon forces work through people to hurt people just as God works through people to help people.  One is our enemy and the other is our Redeemer.

If this teaching hasn’t changed your mind about forgiving everyone and you need one last shove into this truth, read this next verse.

            Mark 11:25-26 (NKJV)

25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."

This makes it pretty clear that not forgiving people will land you in hell for eternity.  I once heard a Godly teacher say that when he read this scripture he made up his mind that there was nothing anyone could do to him that he would go to hell for.

If you do not have the mind of Christ—you need to CHANGE YOUR MIND!  The mind of Christ is that of forgiveness.  Don’t let the enemy tell you anything different.
