What Is Faith?

What Is Faith?

Your Faith

-Mat 9:29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith let it be to you.

-Mat 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is your faith! So be it to you even as you wish. And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

-Mar 10:52 And Jesus said to him, Go, your faith has healed you. And instantly he saw again, and he followed Jesus in the way.

-Luke 17:19 And He said to him, Rise and go; your faith has cured you.

What Faith Is?

A.  What you have (a noun)… Mar 11:22 And answering Jesus said to them, Have faith of God.

B.  What you do (verb)… Mat9:28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.

C.  A firm persuasion…Rom 4:20 He did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform.

  2Co 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight;

-John 3:18 He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

How Does Faith Come?

A. By hearing…Rom 10:17 Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

B.  By accepting…John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I (Thomas) shall see the print of the nails in His hands, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe.

*** Unbelief is simply rejecting what you have heard***

Faith Must Be Released

 A.  By speaking (words)… Mar 11:23  For truly I say to you that whoever shall say to this mountain, Be moved and be cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall occur, he shall have whatever he said.
Mar 11:24 Therefore I say to you, All things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and it will be to you.

B. By thanksgiving-thanking Him for the promise in advance.

1st Hear…2nd BELIEVE…3rd SPEAK!

Healing Faith

First Step

To believe that it is God’s will to heal until one has lived out the allotted span of life.

-Matt12:15.  But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there; and great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.

-Matt 14:14.  And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

-Matt 4: 40.  Now when the sun was setting, all those who had anyone sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.

Jehovah-Rapha is translated “I am the Lord who healeth thee” or “I am the Lord your Physician”.

Second Step

Be sure you are right with God.  When seeking healing for our bodies, there should be no compromise with the Adversary of our souls, because it is he who is the author of all diseases.

Until a person squarely faces and settles the question of  obedience to God, he is not on believing ground.

James 5: 16.  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Therefore, present your body to Him if you want it healed.  It is not until after it becomes His property that He promises to repair it.

Romans 12: 1.  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Third Step

Getting things from God is like playing checkers.  He has made the 1st move in sending us His Word (which provides healing and many other blessings).  It is our next move, to expect what He promises when we pray (which will act on our faith before we see the healing)—only then can God move to heal us.

Hebrews 11: 7.  By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Fallen nature is governed by what “it sees” by “it’s senses;  but faith is governed by the pure Word of God, and is nothing less than expecting God to do what He promises—treating Him like an honest Being.

By EXPECTATION  we do not mean “hope”.  One writer has said, “We hope for what may be possible, but we expect what must be possible…with that expectancy that shuts out doubt or fear of failure, and shows unshakable confidence.

Faith never waits “to see” before it believes because…
“faith comes by hearing” (Rom 10:17)…about “things not yet seen” (Heb 11:7)…and is “the evidence of things not seen” (Heb 11:1).
All that  man of faith needs to know is that God has spoken.  “Thus saith the Lord” settles everything.  “It is written” is all that faith needs.

-Mark 11: 24.  "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

-1John 5: 14.  Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

-Psalm 50: 15.  Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.''

-John 14: 27.  "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

-Phil 4: 6.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

The Origin of Sickness and Disease

If sickness and disease are of God…upon which day did God create it?

-Gen 1:31 And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

Is sickness and disease good?

There was no sickness and disease before Adam sinned.

-Rom 5:12  Therefore, even as through one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed on all men inasmuch as all sinned:

Adam was given dominion over the earth, and when he sinned he gave Satan back dominion and the legal right, and became the “god of this world.”

Death then, is the final enemy—but sickness and disease escort its’ entrance.

Sickness and disease are the work of the devil.

Luke 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound, lo these eighteen years, be loosened from this bond on the Sabbath day?

Act 10:38  how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good, and healing all those who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with Him.

Christ’s purpose is to destroy the works of the devil…1Jo 3:8 …For this purpose the Son of God was revealed, that He might undo the works of the Devil.
